The corner chisel is great for mortise and
tenon work. I have several of these tools ranging in size from 3/4 inch to 1
inch. You will find when they are properly sharpened and used correctly
why they are so desirable for log cabins and timber framing. Be sure to
sharpen them at the correct angles!
When shopping for
your chisels be sure to look carefully for pitting on the bottom side
of the chisel. If there are pits, the chisel will never hold a nice
sharp edge. Avoid buying junk just because it's cheaper!
Do not use a metal hammer to strike the chisel. You should use a wood
or Teflon mallet to avoid destroying the wood handle.
